Coach Bios

Meet Our Coaches! 

Varsity Head Coach - Chip Smith
 
Coach Smith’s coaching resume includes most recently a two year stint as a Varsity assistant with Northview High School (girls).  He spent one year as the Head Coach at Anthony Wayne High School (boys), and nine years at St. Francis de Sales High School.  The teams Coach Smith has coached have made multiple District and Regional appearances, winning several District and Regional Championships, a State Semi-Final appearance (Anthony Wayne), and a State Final appearance (St. Francis).  Coach Smith was named the Northwest Ohio District Coach of the Year and Ohio Assistant Coach of the year once while at St. Francis and this past season with Northview. 

Coach Smith also coaches for the Pacesetter Soccer Club. In 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2010 he helped guide his teams to State Cup Titles and a Region II Championship berth. Many of the other teams he has worked with have also reached a State Cup Semi or Final. 

Coach Smith holds multiple USSF and NSCAA coaching licenses and diplomas, and is member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. 

Originally from Celina, Ohio, Coach Smith earned his English Education degree at the University of Toledo. He has worked at Gesu Elementary School and The Knight Academy, where he will be leaving to teach at NDA next school year. Coach Smith has been married for six years to his wife, Kristin. They have two daughters, Morgan (three) and Emma (seven months), and they currently live in west Toledo.
 

 

Varsity Assistant Coach - Dave Skoczyn

Coach Skocyzn, a graduate of Toledo St. John's, has an extensive 30 year coaching resume.  Most recently he served as the Head Coach for Cardinal Stritch (boys), and in his two years compiled some of the best seasons in program history.  He was voted the 2010 TAAC and The Press Coach of the Year award.  Cardinal Stritch was honored with the Powerade Complete Team award in October, 2010, a national award given to eight programs weekly.

From 1996-2001, Coach Skoczyn guided Celina Senior High School (boys).  He compiled a 54-29-11 record, the most successful coaching tenure in the program in the program's 18 years of history.  He helped guide the team to a WBL Championship in 1997, and was honored as WBL Coach of the Year as well.

Coach Skoczyn is a member of the Ohio Soccer Coaches Association, a member of the Greater Celina Area Soccer Boosters, and also a USSF certified referee.  He also holds his USSF coaching license.
 
Varsity Asst. / Goalkeeping Coach - Steve Mortemore
 
Coach Mortemore has been coaching in the Toledo and surrounding area since the early 1990’s.  His resume includes coaching on the Girls and Boys side where his teams have competed in the NWOYSL, OYSAN State League and Midwest Regional League.
 
Recently in 2009, he was the Boys Assistant Varsity Coach at Anthony Wayne where the team won the Division I Sectional and District championships and advanced to the Regional semi-finals. Coach Mortemore was also the assistant coach for the 2010 U-17 Pacesetter Boys team that won the OYSAN State Championship and then moved on to the Region II tournament. He is currently the assistant coach for the 2011 U-16 Pacesetter Boys with Coach Smith.
 
Besides coaching, Coach Mortemore for the past twenty some years has been a counselor and specialist for the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities. With his wife Terri he has three children and all enjoy the beautiful game.
 
Coach Mortemore holds numerous certifications and licensures.
 
 
 Coach - Eric Lindsley
Coach Lindsley started his coaching career last year as a JV and Varsity Assistant at Notre Dame. Before coming to Notre Dame he graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Sports Studies.  Coach Lindsley was a two year Varsity letter winner at St. Francis De Sales and a member of many Pacesetter Soccer Club teams including a State Champion with Pacesetter.
 
Along with coaching at Notre Dame, Coach Lindsley also works at Toledo Hospital.  He is currently studying to go to Medical School and lives in Sylvania.
